Does Gamestop Buy GoPros?

Gamestop is not only highly known for their broad selection in video games and consoles, but also for their expansive trade-in program. Over the years, Gamestop has expanded from just video game and console trade-ins to a wide variety of electronics and smart gadgets.

Does Gamestop buy GoPros? No. At this time Gamestop is not accepting GoPros as an acceptable electronic for trade in cash or credits.

Even though Gamestop will not accept your GoPro, you will still be able to sell it on a variety of third party platforms, and for a lot more money. Most of the time Gamestop will offer prices that are way below market value for trade-ins so they can receive the highest profits available. Selling on a third party marketplace will ensure that you will receive the highest price possible for your GoPro.

Where Is the Best Place to Sell GoPros?

eBay

eBay is our favorite marketplace to sell on, and for good reason. eBay has one of the largest selling platforms in the world. There are hundreds of thousands of searches performed everyday on the eBay app/website which makes it a great place to list items if you want to sell them for their market value. Not only will you be able to get top dollar for your items, but you will also be able to sell them in a timely manner.

In order to sell on eBay, you will need to create account. These accounts are free, but eBay also offers a premium account which you have to pay a monthly fee for. If you are planning on using eBay long term, then it may be worthwhile looking into as you will get many different perks that may benefit you.

Once you have created your account, you will then need to list your item. Everything can be done from the convenience of your smart phone or laptop. Simply take a few pictures using different angle and sides of your item, write a small description, and then set the price and shipping.

Once your item is live, anyone using the eBay platform can buy it. There is even an option for global shipping which allows people outside of the United States to purchase your item. Once your item sells, simply print out the shipping label, package the item, and send it to the buyer.

Mercari

Mercari is another huge platform that you can sell your new and used items on. Mercari is a lot newer than eBay, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t as good. Mercari first originated in Japan July 2013 and made its way into the US.

It grew traction fast and is now a very popular platform to buy and sell items on. However, they are not yet as big as eBay, but this doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t use it. It’s always a great practice to list your items on as many platforms as possible if you are looking for the quickest sale.

Some items on Mercari also sell for more than items on eBay and vice versa. Selling on Mercari is super simple. Create a free account and start listing right away from your smart phone. Their App is probably the easiest to use out of all the other seller apps.

It’s similar to eBay, but they also offer their own little touch to make it different. Simply take a few pictures, write a description, set the price and shipping, and list it. Your item may take a bit longer to sell on Mercari as there just isn’t as many users on it compared to eBay, but this isn’t always the case.

Offer-Up

Offer-Up up is a great local platform to sell on. Its main perk is that it excels in local listings. Offer-Up’s local selling service has been around much longer than eBay’s and Mercari’s local options which is why we still believe Offer-Up is king if you are wanting to sell your item locally.

Selling expensive items locally has its benefits. For one, there is no need for taxes and shipping fees on top of not having to deal with a returned item. All sales are final and are mostly dealt with in cash. The type of payment is usually settled between the two parties, but cash and third party payment services like Zelle are preferred.

How much you sell your GoPro for highly depends on the model and the condition. Obviously a brand new GoPro will go for a lot more than a preowned GoPro. Earlier models will also cost substantially less than the newest and latest models on the market.

Another factor to take into consideration is accessories. If you are selling it with accessories and a case, then you will be able to sell it for a lot more than if you were to just sell it as a standalone.

On the chart below, we went ahead and listed a few GoPro models along with their recently sold prices. These prices were pulled from the eBay sold/completed listings tab and are current at the time of writing this article.

Final Thoughts

The trade-in program that Gamestop offers is hands down one of the best when it comes to variety the sheer amount of different electronics that they accept. However, this doesn’t mean its the best place to sell your electronics as they offer prices that are usually way under market value.

Unfortunately Gamestop is not accepting GoPros at this time, but this can always change in the future as they are always modifying their trade-in program. Even if they do start to accept them in the future, we still recommend against trading in your GoPro.

We highly recommend selling your used and new electronics on a third party platform like eBay or Mercari in order to get the most money out of your items.
