How to Remove Citadel Paint From ClothesCarpet

It’s happened to all of us. You spill some paint, and it falls in slow motion as you are silently yelling, hoping you can catch it before it drops on your clothes or your carpet. Paint stains can be really tricky to get out if you don’t know what you are doing. Luckily, with paints like Citadel, you can remove the paint pretty quickly if you catch it in time.

You will have the easiest time removing Citadel paint stains if you catch them while they are still wet. That doesn’t mean you can’t get them out when they are dry, it will just take some more work. With just a few products, you will be able to get the stain removed in minutes.

There are a few different things to keep in mind when you are dealing with paint stains. The most important thing to remember is, as tempting as it may be, you shouldn’t scrub. This will move the paint particles deeper into the carpet or fabric and make the stain worse. So, what are you supposed to do?

How to Remove Citadel Paint From Clothes

Removing Citadel paint from clothing is pretty easy as long as you catch it before it dries. If you only find the stain after the paint has dried, you won’t be able to remove the stain completely, but you can try. There are a few different ways that you can remove paint from your clothing.

Laundry Detergent

If you notice the stain while it is still wet, take care of it immediately. Take the article of clothing off and scrape off as much of the wet paint as you can. Quickly pour some liquid laundry detergent on the stain and quickly, but gently, dab it into the fabric.

After you get the laundry detergent into the fabric the best you can, you need to rinse the stain in cold water. Prepare to repeat this process multiple times to remove the stain as much as you can. When you think you are ready, pour a little more laundry detergent on the stain and throw it in the washing machine.

After the washing cycle, remove the clothing and let it air dry. If you put it in the dryer and the stain is not out, the heat will set the stain and make it impossible to get out. Air drying is the best method to ensure there is no paint stain in your clothing.

Isopropyl Alcohol

Isopropyl alcohol is the only solvent that can be used to pretreat stains on fabric, so it is safe to use on paint stains. It is recommended to first wash the stain with soap and water, then follow that with the alcohol and small brush such as a toothbrush.

After you have removed the majority of the stain with soap and water, pour on some of the isopropyl alcohol and very gently scrub the stain. It is only okay to scrub in this instance because you have already removed the majority of the stain and you are just working the alcohol into the fabric.

How to Remove Citadel Paint From Carpet

If you accidentally spill Citadel paint on your carpet, it is very important that you do not panic. You will just need a few simple supplies that you might already have in your home. If you do not have the following ingredients, you need to go get them right this second and as quickly as you possibly can.

You are going to need a roll of paper towels, a sponge, a container for water, cornstarch, and a carpet cleaner that foams if you can find one. Take the water container and fill it about halfway with warm water.

We recommend using a foaming carpet cleaner like Woolite, which can be found on Amazon.

Take the paper towels and try to remove as much of the wet paint as you can. You can do this by blotting the paint up or pinching the paint and pulling it upwards. For the best results, use a new piece of paper towel each time you go back for more paint. Avoid pushing the paint to the sides, as this can make the stain larger.

Take the carpet cleaner and pour it on the stain. Let it soak for a few seconds and grab your sponge. Dab the stain with the sponge and frequently rinse it in your water container. It might be necessary to add more carpet cleaner until the stain is mostly gone.

Take your sponge and water container to the sink and rinse them both out. Refill the water container with fresh water and take it back to the stain with the sponge. Fill the sponge with clean water and dab it into the stain.

Grab a regular towel and place it over the wet stain. Walk over the spot for a minimum of thirty seconds, then remove the towel and apply cornstarch liberally to the stain. Wait about four hours, and you should see that the cornstarch is tinted the color of the paint. You can then vacuum up the cornstarch and you shouldn’t be able to see the paint stain anymore.

Final Thoughts

Dealing with paint stains on clothes and carpet can be extremely frustrating. The most important thing you can do is take care of the stain as soon as you notice it. You will have the best chance of removing the stain if it is still wet when you tend to it.

When you are trying to work out paint stains, it is important to remember that you should avoid scrubbing because this can push the paint further into the fabric fibers of the clothing or the carpet. Blotting is the best way to deal with paint stains.

If you are trying to remove paint stains from clothing, the best thing to use is laundry detergent and your washing machine. If the stain is in your carpet, you will need paper towels, warm water, a carpet cleaning solution, and a sponge for your best chance of removing the stain.
