Penny card sleeves are among the most popular of card sleeves for trading cards. While they are not going to be providing a huge amount of protection for your cards, they are going to provide some protection. This means that they can be a great choice if you are planning on keeping some trading cards in storage.
So, where can you buy penny card sleeves? Well, just about anywhere that sells trading cards will likely have penny card sleeves in stock. So, if you have a regular place that you pick up trading cards from, then you may want to check out their stock and see what else they have available. You certainly are going to have no issues picking up penny card sleeves.
Let’s expand upon this a little bit. This is because we are positive that you are itching to find the best penny sleeves on the market. You may even want a couple of hints on where you can pick some up.
Where Can You Buy Penny Sleeves?
Thankfully, buying penny sleeves shouldn’t be too difficult. Nearly everywhere that has a decent range of trading cards will likely have penny sleeves in stock. This means that you can check out any of these places:
- Walmart
- Target
- Local trading card shops
- Amazon
- eBay
You may also find that some of the places that sell trading cards on the secondary market may also have penny sleeves for sale. It may not be the cheapest in the world. However, a lot of these places do have major trading card sellers peddling their wares on the site, which means that they will have all sorts of card sleeves available.
Prices for Penny Sleeves
As the name suggests, penny sleeves are around a penny each. Or, at least they used to be. The price in recent years has crept up a little bit. You may not be able to get penny sleeves for less than 2-cents each unless you are buying them in bulk (i.e. thousands of sleeves at a time)
The price is not going to be massively high. These are still cheap sleeves. Even if you are picking them up for $2-$3 a pack, you are still going to be getting a tremendous deal on them.
You may want to shop around for various prices on penny sleeves as they can vary. For example, a place like Walmart is probably going to be selling the penny sleeves in-store for a lot more than you would be able to pick them up on Amazon for.
If you are planning on buying a lot of trading cards, then it may be worth purchasing your penny sleeves in bulk. They last forever in storage. It is not uncommon to be able to pick up 1000 sleeves for $20-$25, including shipping. Although, you are going to need to be heading to one of the bigger websites such as Amazon or eBay if you want to pick up bulk card sleeves. You are not going to be able to find bulk sleeves ‘in store’.
Best Brands of Penny Sleeves
In this section, we want to go through what we believe are the very best brands of penny sleeves. However, you should probably be aware that there isn’t all that much between the various brands. They probably all come from the same manufacturer, to be honest. This is because you can’t really do much with penny sleeves. They are just a cheap piece of plastic designed to protect cards. Still, there are some brands that people seem to love a lot more than others.
Ultra-Pro Penny Sleeves
These are our favorite card sleeves. This is because they tend to be among the cheapest on the market, particularly if you buy them in bulk. It is also likely to be the card sleeve that you are going to be encountering the most in stores.
Ultra-Pro penny sleeves fit into a toploader with ease.
In our opinion, they also feel fantastic when you are shuffling them. We know that penny sleeves have never really been designed with shuffling in mind. Although, still, it is nice to use them for some of the cheaper decks that you put together.

TitanShield Penny Sleeves
TitanShield penny sleeves are among the most expensive of the penny sleeves that you can purchase. They average about $6 for 125. However, they do feel fantastic for that price.
One of the reasons why these penny sleeves are a little bit more expensive than their competitors is the fact that they are thicker. This helps to give them more of a quality feel. We have actually seen people play with these in trading card tournaments. Bring a set of these along to your next Magic the Gathering draft and you will love them.
Again, you are going to be able to put your cards in a toploader once you have loaded them into these penny sleeves.

Should You Buy Penny Sleeves for Your Trading Cards?
Yes. Penny sleeves are cheap and they still provide a great amount of protection for your cards. They are good if you are planning on double-sleeving.
Now, penny sleeves are not going to be able to protect your most valuable of cards. They are also not going to be all that great if you are planning on building a deck with your trading cards (penny sleeves do not shuffle all that well), but if you are putting the cards into storage, then there is no better option at this price point.
Final Thoughts
Penny sleeves are available in most places that sell trading cards. You will likely find Ultra-Pro trading card sleeves in most stores. These are the ones that tend to be favored by collectors.
You are looking at paying between $2 to $5 per pack of 100 penny sleeves. If you buy them in bulk, you may be able to save a bit of cash.
Penny sleeves are affordable enough that they can provide decent protection for your trading cards while they are in storage.
