The Pandemic Legacy instructional manual constantly tells players to play the original Pandemic before they dive in. For many, this sends off a signal that Pandemic Legacy is hard. So, is it?
Pandemic Legacy is not hard. Most people that have a bit of experience with Pandemic will not find that Pandemic Legacy all that hard. It is going to present a little bit of a challenge, but not so much that you are not going to be having fun while playing the game.
Here, we do want to take a look at how player count can have an impact on how difficult Pandemic Legacy actually is.
Is Pandemic Legacy Too Easy?
This is a tough question to answer. This is because there are some people that claim that the game is too easy, while there are others that claim that the game is too difficult.
In our experience, if you know how to play Pandemic, then you should be breezing through the game rather easily. You will have a lot of fun, but it is not going to present a huge challenge. The less experience that you have with Pandemic, the harder things become.
This is because the game is designed for a limited number of uses. The team behind Pandemic Legacy wants to ensure that you get through the story. If it was too difficult, you wouldn’t be able to get through it.
An interesting thing about Pandemic Legacy is that the more than you fail at the game, the easier it comes. This is because the game gives you two attempts at each month.
If you continually fail, then the game will adapt to suit. This means that the difficulty of Pandemic Legacy will change as you work your way through the twelve different stories (i.e. months) in the game.
Is Pandemic Legacy Easier With More Players?
Somewhat interestingly, no.
2 Player Game
When you play in 2-player mode, Pandemic Legacy has a greater amount of time between epidemics. This makes it a little bit easier for you to be able to get your game in order. In fact, even new players have found that Pandemic Legacy is easy when you play as 2 players.
That being said, Pandemic Legacy in 2-player mode does get a bit too boring. This is because of the ease of playing the game. A lot of the people that have played in 2-player have often noted that not a whole lot happens in the game.
This means that you do not get to deal with anywhere near the same number of situations that a 4-player game would throw at you. This takes away a lot of the challenge and the excitement.
As a result, if you only have 2-players, we suggest that each of you plays as 2 characters each. This way the game will function similarly to a 4-player game, and the whole thing will take on a new dynamic.
4 Player Game
There are some people that will find that the 4-player game is a little bit easier for you to play. While the game is going to be throwing a lot of you very, very quickly, there are some differences that will allow experienced players to progress through the game a little bit quicker.
For starters, you now have 4 people discussing the game together. Since it is a co-op game, four minds working on that game will be a little bit better than one. Having four characters on the board also means that you have the full array of special skills available for the team. It also means that each player will be able to focus on something different too.
Don’t worry. When you play Pandemic Legacy, the player count is not set in stone. In one session, you can play with 2-players. In another session, you can play with 4-players. Go with whatever you feel comfortable with.
This is a board game. The whole idea is to have fun with it,. so do what makes the game feel fun to you, no matter how everything plays.

Is Pandemic Legacy Season 1 or Season 2 Easier?
Pandemic Legacy Season 1 is regarded as the easier game. This is because it follows the rules of the original Pandemic a lot easier.
While Pandemic Legacy Season 2 doesn’t actually require you to have played Season 1 first, a lot of people have found that the game becomes a bit easier once you have. This is because you will have a solid idea of how the game will be treating you as you play through. Plus, the storylines follow on from one another.
